The Skinny On Female Genital Piercings

February 5th, 2010
GoDaddy.com Hosting & Servers

Brave and erotic, female genital piercings are taboo yet titillating. More and more women are getting genital piercings from the porn star with the beautiful Brazilian wax to the housewife who just wants a little something exciting in her sex life. Are female genital piercings for everyone? Are there risks involved? How to you take care of a female genital piercing, or multiple piercings? Here’s what you want to know on getting pierced…down there.

Styles Of Female Genital Piercings

These days, pretty much anything can be pierced. Whether it will stay there and stay clean is a whole other ball game. There are a variety of female genital piercings, including the more popular clitoral and labial piercings. The most common clitoral piercing is a vertical hood piercing, where the jewelry is inserted only through the clitoral hood and not through the clitoris itself, as well as an outer labia piercing. Other styles of piercings are available, such as the Triangle piercing where the jewelry is inserted behind the clitoris, but many of them depend on having an anatomy that works well with that type of piercing. Many female genital piercings are more controversial in the piercing society, such as surface piercings and piercings such as the Christina – these piercings have a high rejection and infection rate. Don’t be afraid to ask your piercer for their advice on the best genital piercing for your anatomy.

Concerns

Just like with any other piercing, there are health risks associated with female genital piercings. The biggest concern with a genital piercing is the heightened risk of infection due to the location of the piercing, but the risk of infection can be minimized with proper piercing aftercare techniques. Some concerns are that orgasms will be heightened and will become more frequent and even uncontrollable, but that is often one of the reasons behind getting a female genital piercing in the first place. If you are concerned about having orgasms that are too intense or are uncontrollable, consider a labia piercing or another style of piercing that will not directly rub against the clitoris. Many women report that after having heightened and more frequent orgasms for a period of time, that the clitoris will soon become desensitized to most friction and stimulation. This, however, seems to be rare.

Piercing Aftercare

Always talk to your piercer about how to properly clean and take care of your new female genital piercing. Many tips and techniques are available over the Internet, but many of them are conflicting and don’t come from trusted sources. Get your information directly from the source – a good, experienced and educated body piercer. Follow their instructions to the letter – if they say abstain from sex for six to eight weeks after getting pierced, do it. It may not be any fun in the meantime while you’re anxious to give your new jewelry a test drive, but getting an infection or having your peircing become irritated and painful is even less fun. A piercing may increase your risk for contracting sexually transmitted diseases, so it is very important to practice safer sex with condoms and dental dams if you’re not in a sexually monogomous relationship.

            K + 79:3 - Phoenicopterus

            January 26th, 2010

As we all know, flamingoes are famed for resting on one foot, some interesting reasons have been posited, but til now it’s still not entirely clear. The most interesting one of which says that they are able to rest half their body, while the other half is awake. But of course, it remains but just a theory. Maybe wearing this necklace, will help u shut half a brain when you need to chillax from the daily grind. And if anybody says you’re not as sharp, you can always say “yeah but i’m using half a brain.” 14k gold plated flamingo measures 5cm, while black electroplated chain measures 22″, finished off with a 14k gold plated lobster clasp.

              K + 79:2 - Fool’s Gold

              January 25th, 2010
              Sending Large Files? Use Box.net!

2nd necklace of the K + 79 collection. Pyrite is also commonly known as fool’s gold. Back in the gold mining days, pyrite with its silverish tone & gold flecks or brassy tone (depending on which spectrum of the gemstone you were getting), was easily mistaken for gold, therefore it’s name. I’ve wirewrapped the pyrite gumdrop with 14k gold headpin, and strung it on a black electroplated chain. Chain measures 25″, while pyrite pendant measures a tiny 5mm across, and finished with 14k gold plated spring clasp. See the complete necklace & close-up on 14k lobster clasp.

              Lazy Sundays

              January 24th, 2010
LifeLock Identity Theft Prevention - Save 10%

I love the sound of “lazy Sundays” although mine are usually not lazy at all. I often spend them working on photographs and the website if I’ve been able to make any jewelry that week. But I still love the concept and even though I’m working, it’s as though the work isn’t really work since I’m doing it on Sunday! It may be January, but I am busy working on new Spring jewelry; meanwhile, here are some pieces that will be on the website in the next day or two if they are not already. Above is a unique bracelet with a special wirewrapped focal bead, a faceted rectangle of rose quartz, and 5 strands of rose quartz rondelles interspersed with different gemstones - rubies, citrines, tourmalinated quartz, apatite, and amethysts. (It’s my new favorite!). Below, you can never have too much labradorite! This labradorite bracelet is made up of two strands of different sizes and shapes of labradorite beads with little charms of labradorite hanging from the strands, and sterling silver accents.
I’ve been very interested in pearls lately, mixing and matching them with different elements. Below is a coin pearl bracelet with red magma Swarovski crystals (I love this red magma colour!) A sterling silver handmade rose and leaf from the Thai Karen Hill Tribes hang from one side of the bracelet. The freshwater coin pearls have a lovely nacre.
              (See Gemstone Earrings)
More pearls below: freshwater pearl earrings in pink with light rose Swarovski crystals match the pearl bracelet with its flower accents, including a pretty flower decorated toggle clasp in sterling. The last two pieces are simple coin pearl necklaces, the first with Swarovski crystals and sterling silver, and the second with vermeil and keishe pearls.

                K + 79:1 - Half & Half

                January 24th, 2010
All New Nero 9 - Your Digital Life, Made Easy

First of the Black & Gold collection, as the name of the collection states, it’s all about black & gold, in colour and its various interpretations. It’s definitely something edgier, funkier and more close to my heart than the other collections that i’ve come up with, coz it’s just the way i dress. Also in the little touches where, i’ve tweaked it for that really personal feel, so I hope you like it!

A black cinnabar bead & 3 textured 14k gold plated rings hold fort in this design. Gold chains drape close against your chest, while the black chains go round your neck in Half & Half. To look at the close up of the cinnabar beads, go here, or at the other touch of personality, here.

Half & Half measures 34″ and is completed with 14k gold plated parts & black electroplated (over nickel) parts.

What is TOO Extreme for Body Modification?

                  January 20th, 2010

So what is extreme body modification, or hardcore body modification? There really is no answer for that, as it’s really up to each person. But assuming we’re dealing with an average Joe, most people consider hardcore body modification to be lots of facial piercings, tattoos on their heads or faces, and even the new craze of tongue splitting (yes, people split their tongues for complete aesthetic purposes).

Now, if you walk to something that’s a little bit deeper in the body modification scene, that’s nothing! Hardcore body modification to them would be splitting the head of your penis, suspending yourself from a single hook in your chest, or doing what’s known as skin peeling (where long strips or shapes of skin are sliced off).

If you go even deeper, the more hardcore body modifications would be amputation or nullification (from the removal of part of a finger, to an entire arm). The obvious question that most people would have after reading this is, “Why?” And the answer is simple. It’s because they wanted to! That’s it! That’s the beauty of each and every one of us having our own lives, we get to do what we want with it. For the same reason someone wouldn’t get a tattoo, another person would. These are basic civil liberties that every human has been with for thousands of years and will always have.

So, the next time you want to know why, think why not! If you want to see photos of people sharing their experience is various hardcore body modifications, head on over to http://www.BodyMod.org, and have fun looking through the galleries. And if one day you decide to venture down this road, post a pic of it. We’d all like to see!

                            What a Rainstorm

                            January 19th, 2010

Here in California we’re in the midst of day two of the winter storms. This morning, my area in Capitola had a power outage. The power’s back on but we’ve had several downpours. I love California when it rains…its kind of like snow days in other parts of the country. People are either really cranky or really happy. Anyway, the biggest in the line of storms is scheduled to hit my area tomorrow.

Yesterday we had some pretty good downpours, followed by equally lovely breaks in the rain….here’s some photos of what Capitola looked like mid-day yesterday.

                            Happy Tuesday :)

                              January’s Specials!

January’s weather has turned from snow to rain; I can’t wait for more snow! I am working (and have been on the new Spring jewelry for this year, and there’s something about a heavy coating of snow on the ground that is inspirational when it comes to jewelry. Meanwhile, I’ve also been getting ready for Valentine’s Day and working on a special page of earrings!
Above are two bracelets featuring the Red Magma colour from Swarovski; I love this colour, a muted orangey red with a deep tone. The first is a silver bangle bracelet with Karen Hill Tribes tube beads and red magma crystals in the cosmic shape. Next is a freshwater pearl bracelet with creamy arrow shaped freshwater pearls.
Below, I’ve had these pink Botswana agate sharply faceted nuggets on the workbench for some time, trying to decide what to do with them. Then I got in some white coral from Thailand and it seemed perfect for the swirling patterns of pink, white, and grey in the Botswana agate. A large sterling silver starfish is on either side of the necklace, and an S clasp features a starfish atop it. All the sterling silver is from the Thai Karen Hill Tribes. This necklace looks great with a crisp white blouse, and with sweaters - the softness of the colours, I suppose. It would be a perfect gift for Valentine’s Day. Below the necklace is a pair of earrings with freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystal butterflies in red, another perfect Valentine’s Day gift.

Pietersite is a lovely gemstone that is both polished and earthy at the same time. It’s pretty patterns are brown, but include gold, beige, black, blue, sienna, rust, and tan. The bracelet has two strands: one strand is of gemstones, and the other is a sterling silver chain with Swarovski crystals in mocha hanging from it. The Swarovski crystals, which are also in the main strand, add a sparkle to the bracelet and lift it from everyday to special! Below are matching pietersite earrings.THE SPECIAL I’M WORKING ON will be a page of s! For example, below: smoky quartz, rose quartz, and chalcedony.
Just for fun, a charm bracelet that is all gemstones and sterling silver. The gemstone charms include aquamarine, chalcedony, smoky quartz, moonstone, Botswana agate, rose quartz, and opal. All the charms hang from the double-linked sterling silver bracelet which fastens with a sturdy toggle clasp.
